Propagation - prop-a-ga-tion

how to propagate in water-

Propagation is AMAZING for the sole reason that you can take one plant and create multiple others from it! There are some simple tips and tricks that will make propagation a no brainer, even for beginner plant parents!

  • What to do -

√ Take a cutting of a plant above the node ( growth point) with sanitized sheers or scissors.

√ Let cuttings callous for a few hours.

√ *Optional - dip in hormone powder.

√ Place in fresh water or other propagation medium.

√ Change water every 3-5 days.

The roots receive oxygen from fresh water so this is crucial.

Propagating might take some time getting use to what works best for you but with this staples you're sure to have new plant babies of your own! Some plants propagate easier than others, and some take months. Check out our newest blog post about which plants are easiest to propagate!

  • What not to do -

x Take a cutting without a node.

x Never refresh your water- your plant will rot.

x Place in direct sunlight, your roots are usually in dirt, so direct sunlight can harm them.

x Forget about your cutting (guilty).
